Date set for Vader appeal

By Apr 12, 2018

A date has been set for Travis Vader’s appeal of his manslaughter conviction in the deaths of St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie McCann. Vader was found guilty of second degree murder in September 2016 but the conviction was changed to manslaughter the next month after Justice Denny Thomas cited a section of the Criminal Code that had previously been ruled as unconstitutional.

In January 2017 Vader was sentenced to life in prison with eligibility of parole after seven years.

Earlier this year Judge Terry Clackson denied Vader an appeal for bail violations that occurred while he was out on bail and awaiting the trial for the death of the McCanns.

The appeal is set for Oct. 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Edmonton.
