Accused murderer Travis Vader will make another bid for bail Friday.

Court documents obtained by CBC News Thursday reveal Vader hopes to spend time with a newborn baby upon his release.

Last summer Vader was charged with assaulting his former fiancee.

Police believe while out on bail last month, Vader phoned the woman, who was eight months pregnant, telling her he had been clean for five months and had a good job lined up. He expressed hope he could see the baby after birth.

He allegedly also tried to convince her to drop the charge against him.

Days later he was arrested, charged with attempting to obstruct justice and returned to custody in November.

Making the call would violate a no-contact order imposed by the court.

Vader's lawyer insists he never called his former partner, but the Justice of the Peace denied Vader's bail.

Today he'll ask a Court of Queen's Bench Justice to reverse that decision.

Vader is still facing a trial on first-degree murder charges in the disappearance of seniors Lyle and Marie McCann, who were last seen leaving St. Albert for a road trip in British Columbia in July 2010. Their burned RV was found days later near Edson, Alta. Their remains were never found.

Vader was re-arrested for in the McCann case last December, 10 months after the charges were stayed.

He has repeatedly denied having any involvement with the McCanns' disappearance.

Vader's trial on the first-degree murder charges is scheduled for March.
