Accused killer Travis Vader was granted bail again on Thursday after the Crown consented to his release.

Vader -- who is accused of killing two St. Albert seniors who vanished nearly five years ago -- had ended up back in custody on Feb. 28 after allegedly breaching his bail conditions for the second time in less than a month.

Crown prosecutor Ashley Finlayson told court there was a consent order for Vader's release with an added condition that he abide by a nightly 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

Outside court, Finlayson said Vader, 43, must also continue to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle and follow the conditions of his earlier release. He was expected to be let out sometime Thursday evening.

Vader was arrested about 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 after a rural Carrot Creek resident called RCMP to report a truck had pulled into his driveway and stayed in the yard for an extended period of time.

As a result, Vader was charged with dangerous driving and six counts of breach of a recognizance.

The Edson-area arrest happened 16 days after the St. Albert RCMP arrested Vader on Feb. 12 at his residence in that community. He was charged in that case with assault and failing to comply with a condition on his recognizance to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

He was released on $2,000 bail with conditions to surrender any firearms, ammunition or explosives and to have no contact with several named people.

Vader is facing two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Lyle McCann, 78, and his 77-year-old wife Marie. The seniors were last seen on July 3, 2010, fuelling up their motorhome in St. Albert while on their way to Chilliwack, B.C., for a vacation.

The RV was found two days later fully ablaze near the Minnow Lake campground east of Edson and the couple's SUV was found six days later near Carrot Creek, about 30 kilometres east of Edson.

While the bodies of Lyle and Marie McCann have never been found, RCMP have declared them homicide victims.

Vader was first charged with the killings in April 2012, but the charges were stayed on March 19, 2014. The charges were re-laid on Dec. 19, 2014.

A four-week jury trial is slated to start on March 7, 2016, with jury selection to take place on March 3, 2016.
