The man who was once facing charges in connection to the disappearances of Lyle and Marie McCann, but is still facing a number of other charges, learned whether he would be allowed out on bail Friday.

Travis Vader appeared in an Edmonton courtroom Friday, to hear whether or not he would be granted bail – but learned he would remain in custody for the next few months.

Vader gained notoriety because he was at one time charged with murder in connection to the disappearance of St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie McCann – who were reported missing in 2010.

Travis Edward Vader, who has been identified as a person of interest by the RCMP in the McCann investigation on Friday, July 16, 2010, is seen in this undated RCMP handout photo.

Those charges were stayed against him in March, but he still has a number of other charges not related to the couple’s disappearance, including drug trafficking, possession of stolen property and firearms charges.

On Monday, court heard three hours of arguments between the Crown Prosecutor and the defense on the case.

He is scheduled to go to trial in the fall.

"Mr. Vader is scheduled to proceed to trial," Chief Crown Prosecutor Michelle Doyle said. "The trial begins in September and is scheduled for four days.

"We’ll see what happens at the conclusion of that."

Due to a court-ordered publication ban, details on why Vader’s bail was denied cannot be released.
