  The family of missing St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie McCann hope billboards along Highway 16 will lead to clues to help solve the case.

The McCann family is turning to roadside billboards as they continue their work to keep the missing couple in the public’s mind.

Lyle and Marie McCann disappeared after leaving St. Albert in their motorhome on July 3 and the family is offering a $60,000 reward for anyone with information about the couple’s disappearance.

Bret McCann, the couple’s son, said they hope the billboards will catch the attention of someone with information.

"We are putting up two billboards this weekend and probably some more later, we will see how this one works out."

The McCanns’ motorhome was found burned and destroyed on July 5 near the Minnow Lake campground. The SUV they were towing was found close by near Nojak on July 16.

Police have also arrested Travis Edward Vader on unrelated charges, though he has been identified as a suspect in the case.

McCann said the first two eight-foot by 12-foot billboards they have planned are located near Highway 16 — one facing westbound traffic and the other eastbound traffic.

McCann said they really want to make sure people are still thinking about the couple.

"We wanted to reinforce it in the public mind, especially those people who live in that area and frequently travel along Highway 16."

The family has also partnered with several sporting goods stores that are providing information about the couple to hunters who are seeking licences.

The couple’s SUV is a green Hyundai Tucson with a licence plate of ZPK 289. Police are interested in anyone who might have seen it between July 3 and when it was recovered on July 16.

The motorhome was a 1999 green and white Gulfstream. Police are looking for anyone who might have seen it between July 3 and July 5.
