Alberta RCMP Statement: Travis Vader found guilty

Edmonton, Alberta (Sept. 15, 2016) – The RCMP thanks Justice Thomas for his thorough review and assessment of the evidence put before him during this lengthy trial. When a crime occurs, the police role is to investigate by gathering evidence and providing it to the Crown in support of a prosecution. The RCMP fulfilled that role in this case.

Today, our thoughts are with the McCann family, whose demonstrated respect for the criminal trial process continues to set a very high standard for all Canadians.

The RCMP will not be providing further comment due to the possibility that Mr. Vader may choose to appeal the verdict.
